LIST OF 2012 JUNIOR CHESS TOURNAMENTS
School LeaguePrimary’s chess league has to set till the end of 2011 and start early in 2012. There is 4 schools ready and possibly JCC section will set the team if we raise enough players from other schools to compete. The best school will win the Primary’s Schools Chess League Trophy and the Trophy for best coach will be funded. Because of the luck of schools we have to wait with similar chess league for secondary’s schools.
The 75th Chess Inter InsularAnnual Team Chess Tournament will be played In Jersey in April/May 2012. We would like to set the junior team up to 16 players competing against Guernsey junior team for the Channel Islands Junior Chess Team Champions and the trophy. Steve Ruff, the JCC junior captain, will set the team according the strength of juniors and results of Jersey Chess Championships and Open. The numbers of players in the team depends of capabilities of Guernsey Chess Federation and Guernsey Junior Section.
Junior Lightning ChampionshipsFor Primary school children. Friday 9th March 2012 at St George's Preop. Entries to admin@stgeorgesprep.co.uk by Wednesday 7th March The winner will win the Lightning Junior Chess Trophy. Lightning is a term used for chess, and is a general term for extremely fast chess. It can also refer to games with a fixed time for each move. In our tournament a buzzer will be used to set 10 seconds for each move.
Junior Blitz Chess ChampionshipsMostly for Secondary school children but open to everybody U18. Players will compete using the clocks, 5-minutes per side is the standard for Blitz. The venue – Bel Royal School. After 1st of April. The winner will win the Blitz Junior Chess Trophy.
Junior Chess Solving ChampionshipsEntitled to participate are players (Boys & Girls) who shall not have reached the age of 18, by 1st January 2012 (date of birth – January 1st, 1994 and after). Venue – Plat Douet School. Wednesday 13th June from 4:15 – 5:15. The winner will win the Piotr Murdzia Junior Chess Solving Trophy.
Chess Team MatchJCC versus Victoria College The Victoria College venue. The time – to be confirmed.
Chess Team MatchJunior Chess Team versus the Appleby The venue – the Appleby. The time – to be confirmed.
Chess Team MatchGirls versus Boys The perfect venue is one of the Jersey cultural monuments. Main reason is , to raise interest in chess among girls. | ||||||||
